Beacon Community Credit Union
Beacon Community Credit Union was chartered in 1947 to serve the employees of the Naval Ordnance Station in Louisville, Kentucky, and was originally named Louisville Naval Ordnance Plant Employees Credit Union. With the closure of the Naval Ordnance Plant in 1995, Beacon opened a new head office on National Turnpike and expanded its field of membership to other businesses in the area.
In 2004, Beacon changed their charter from a select employee group (SEG) based credit union, to a community credit union. What started as a savings and loan credit union, now offers a full range of financial products and services to meet the needs of their members.
As part of their outreach initiatives, Beacon Community has focused on developing products and services that are relevant to the Hispanic Community in Louisville. One third of the members the credit union serves are Hispanic and 22% of the credit union team is bilingual.
Beacon accepts alternate forms of ID at account opening and provides loan opportunities for ITIN holders at the same rates as members with an SSN.
Beacon also has a strong presence in the community, supporting community events and developing partnerships with organizations such as La Casita Center, Mexican Consulate, Guatemalan Consulate and Financial Literacy Classes for middle and high school students and their parents at Adelante Hispanic Achiever, and much more.
Beacon is the first Juntos Avanzamos credit union in Kentucky. ¡Felicidades!

This includes a Spanish website, ITIN lending for consumer loans, mobile app in Spanish and a robust ecosystem of community partnerships all designed to help Clackamas become the preferred financial institution for Hispanics in its footprint.
A focus on financial inclusion is not new to Clackamas. The credit union has received multiple awards from national credit union organizations for its community service and focuses on financial literacy.
